I'm an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Arizona State University. My research interests include the philosophy of statistics, the history and philosophy of science, and formal epistemology. My dissertation is about the logical framework of null hypothesis significance testing. I've also worked on topics like action at a distance, Carnap's semantic information and inductive logic, and interpretations of probability. I am interested in the question 'Why are mathematical models so effective in describing the physical world?'
I received a PhD in philosophy and an MS in statistics from the University of Texas at Austin, an MA in philosophy from Central European University, and a bachelor's degree at St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland. St. John's College has a 'great books' curriculum.
